When I moved from Australia to France in August 2007, I was thinking about setting up a Moodle Partner in France, since none was available at the time (still true at time of writing). I discussed it briefly with Martin Dougiamas, and talked about it with a few other Moodlers. I also mentioned this in one of my online descriptions. Finally, when I attended the 2007 French Moodle Moot in Castres, I talked about it with Nicolas Martignoni, who has done a remarkable job at spreading the news :-)
It now seems that a number of people are eagerly expecting this Moodle Partner in France, and that my inadvertently placed hints have contributed to the rumour that such was already in place. I would like to clarify this.
First of all, I am NOT currently running a Moodle business: I am self-employed (freelance), partly working for Moodle Pty Ltd and partly for a variety of other non-Moodle clients. However, the project of a Moodle Partner is still in the making, it is just taking a while to concretise. I am still plowing through French red tape in order to get the correct social security and medical insurance cover, but thankfully I am now seeing the light at the tunnel’s end.
Anyone interested in the partnership, either as a potential associate, employee, shareholder or client, please contact me (nicolasconnault@gmail.com) so that I can get an idea of the kind of demand there is in France for such services. Just one proviso is that I am not necessarily in France on a permanent basis. My wife and I have a rather open vision of our future, and we like to keep our options equally as open. If this wasn’t the case, we wouldn’t be married!
